BlackRock rolls out two tokenized money market funds BSTBL and BRSRV, expanding on-chain cash management.

BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, is launching two blockchain-based money market funds. These funds hold traditional assets like Treasuries but offer tokenized shares on Ethereum, making them easier to transfer and use in crypto. This marks another big step by major finance into crypto infrastructure.

What happened

Asset manager BlackRock has announced the launch of two tokenized money market products, expanding its footprint in on-chain cash management.

Why it matters for the market

The first product, the BlackRock Select Treasury Based Liquidity Fund (BSTBL), will offer Ethereum-based tokenized shares of an existing money market fund. These on-chain shares can be transferred between approved wallets, subject to regulatory requirements. BNY Mellon will act as transfer agent and tokenization service provider for BSTBL.

The second product, the BlackRock Daily Reinvestment Stablecoin Reserve Vehicle (BRSRV), is a new tokenized money market fund aimed at digital-native institutional investors. It supports daily dividend reinvestment and multi-blockchain access, with potential use cases including stablecoin reserve management. Securitize will serve as transfer agent and tokenization service provider for BRSRV.

What traders should watch

The launch reflects continued interest from major traditional finance players in using blockchain infrastructure for cash and liquidity management.
