BNB Chain disowns a new meme token after a fired employee used an old tutorial wallet to deploy it. The chain says it never created or endorsed the token and is now taking legal action.

A wallet created by a former BNB Chain employee for a video tutorial was later used by that employee after leaving the company to launch a new meme token. BNB Chain says it has no connection to the token and is suing the former employee.

What happened

BNB Chain has publicly distanced itself from a newly deployed meme token after discovering that a wallet address tied to a former employee was used to launch it. In a statement on X, the chain said the address was originally created by a former staff member for a video tutorial that demonstrated token generation.

Why it matters for the market

According to BNB Chain, that employee is no longer with the company as a result of the incident. However, after leaving, the individual allegedly kept unauthorized access to the associated mnemonic phrase and used it to derive a new private key.

BNB Chain said it later learned that the same address was being used independently for a new meme token. The chain stressed that it did not create, authorize, promote, or take part in creating the token, and that it has no control over either the token or the wallet address.

The project emphasized that the token and the address are not affiliated with BNB Chain and have not received its endorsement. It added that it is now pursuing legal action against the former employee and is cooperating with relevant authorities on the case.

What traders should watch

The episode underscores how quickly meme-token launches can become tangled in questions of access and ownership. For intraday traders, news of this kind can inject extra volatility into tokens loosely tied to established crypto brands, even after the official entity has issued a denial.
